Nearly 4 years ago, I gave up on the Genesis framework only to return back to using them once again for my most high traffic website. My search engine traffic declined, so I wanted to explore the possible causes. I started by looking back at my past activities. When my traffic was at its peak I was using the Genesis framework.
The theme I was using prior to my switch back was loading super slow and although I thought it looked great, surveys and feedback revealed that it was not a good fit for my audience. I decided to put my user’s experience first and began re-using techniques that worked well for me in the past which includes Genesis.
There are some beautiful Genesis themes out there, but for the most part, in my opinion Genesis themes aren’t always the sexiest. However, what does matter is the following:
- They are good for SEO because of the way they are structured
- Generally have faster load time
- Better support because it is a premium theme that you pay for
- If you want something beautiful and feminine creators like Pretty Darn Cute Design do have options for you
Once your audience starts growing and you definitely see potential in your platform invest in your business. A good theme is more than just how your website appears, it affects the user friendliness of your website and improves or decreases your organic search traffic.
Remember, Google does factor in how fast your website loads, if your bounce rate is high and whether or not people return to visit your website.
*Keep in mind to use Genesis you must have the Genesis Framework and a Genesis Theme. It is an investment, definitely not cheap. However, if you feel it is time to step up your website’s presentation and performance it is worth it.
