The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation will be effective May 25, 2018.

This new regulation affects companies who use personal consumer data to sell to other companies. Under the new law it requires to ask for clear cut consent. Which means pre-ticked boxes that automatically opt subscribers into this option are a no go. You must directly ask for permission on your forms.

This law only applies to the EU but being that there are a significant amount of EU users on Facebook and Apple these companies have already began to abide by this regulation.

In the business of selling consumer data? Make sure you are implementing GDPR friendly forms, it not only is going to become a standard, but it’s just simple consideration.
